Nothing is Wasted

Devotional: Nothing Is Wasted
Inspired by Genesis 22 & the song “Nothing is Wasted”

Scripture:

“So Abraham called the name of that place, ‘The Lord will provide’; as it is said to this day, ‘On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’”
Genesis 22:14 (ESV)

There’s a saying in Christian circles that carries profound comfort: “In the economy of God, nothing is wasted.” It means that God does not let a single tear, a single trial, a single act of surrender go unused. He redeems every loss, repurposes every waiting season, and reshapes every broken piece into something eternally valuable.

This truth pulses through the story of Genesis 22, where Abraham, in faith, prepares to offer his son Isaac. It’s a moment that tests everything—his trust, his obedience, his understanding of God. Yet Abraham moves forward, believing that somehow, the Lord will provide. And God does. A ram in the thicket. A life spared. A promise reaffirmed.

In our lives, the “mountain” might look like uncertainty, grief, or letting go of dreams we’ve clung to for too long. But like Abraham, we are invited to trust—not in outcomes, but in God Himself. The song Nothing is Wasted gives voice to this journey. It reminds us that even when the fire is hot, the silence is heavy, or the road is unclear, we are not alone. God is not indifferent. He is present in the process—and purposeful in the pain.

The economy of God doesn’t work like ours. We try to measure value by outcomes, by progress, by resolution. But God sees value in the hidden things: the unseen acts of obedience, the whispered prayers, the quiet endurance of faith. Even our regrets and failures, when surrendered, become instruments of grace in His hands.

So we lay it down again. We trust again. We believe again. Because we know this: in the economy of God, nothing is wasted. Not the waiting. Not the weeping. Not even the wondering.

Prayer:
Lord,
Thank You that Your love redeems every moment of my life. Even when I don’t understand what You’re doing, help me to trust that You are working for good. When I walk through fire, remind me that You are in the flame. When I feel like I’ve lost too much, show me that nothing is wasted in Your hands. Teach me to live with open hands and a surrendered heart. In the economy of Your grace, may my pain become purpose, and my waiting become worship.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Reflection:
Where in your life do you feel like something has been wasted? How might God be inviting you to see it differently—in light of His redeeming love and eternal economy?

Song: Nothing is Wasted

Verse 1
You asked me to let go of what I held too tight
The plans I made, the dreams I shaped, the pieces of my life
I tried to hold it all together, afraid of what I’d lose
But love means laying down the outcome
And trusting everything to You

Chorus
You will provide, You always do
Even when I don’t know what You’re leading me through
Even when I walk through fire, You stay in the flame
You hold my sorrow, You know my name
In the valley, in the waiting, I have tasted
In the economy of Your love, nothing is wasted

Verse 2
I’ve walked through days that felt like silence
And nights I couldn’t catch my breath
I said I’d follow where You led me
But I was scared of what came next
I couldn’t see beyond the moment
Still You whispered, “I am near”
You never promised all the answers
You only asked me not to fear

Chorus
You will provide, You always do
Even when I don’t know what You’re leading me through
Even when I walk through fire, You stay in the flame
You hold my sorrow, You know my name
In the valley, in the waiting, I have tasted
In the economy of Your love, nothing is wasted

Verse 3
So here I am with hands wide open
Letting go of what I thought was mine
You never asked me for perfection
Just a heart that says, “I’ll try”
And in the breaking, I found healing
In the loss, I found Your grace
You’re the God who turns my ashes
Into beauty I can’t replace

Bridge
You don’t waste the waiting, You don’t waste the pain
Even when I’m walking through fire or rain
Every breath I breathe, every pain I've tasted
In the economy of Your love, nothing is wasted

Final Chorus
You will provide, You always do
Even when I’m breaking in two
Even when I walk through fire, You stay in the flame
You never leave me alone in the pain
In the valley, in the waiting, I have tasted
In the economy of Your love, nothing is wasted

Outro
So I lay it down again
Even when I don’t understand
You are good… and nothing is wasted
You are near when I let go
You are strong when I feel low
You are kind… and nothing is wasted
You’ve seen every tear I’ve cried
Held my heart when hope had died
You stayed… and nothing is wasted
So I’ll trust You in the silence
I’ll believe You through the dark
You are faithful in the waiting
You are healing every part
I won’t fear what comes tomorrow
I won’t chase what’s not mine to hold
You are God… and nothing is wasted

When the Promise Hurts

Inspired by Genesis 16

Song:

Scripture Reading – Genesis 16:7–13 (NIV)

The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert…
And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
“I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered.
Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back… I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Reflection – “When the Promise Hurts”

There are moments in the life of faith when the very thing we were promised feels more like a burden than a blessing. The waiting stretches on. Silence grows louder. Doubt creeps in.

“When the Promise Hurts” is a cry from that sacred in-between — when what God said hasn’t come to pass, and what we’ve done in the meantime has only made things messier. It gives voice to the ache of wondering whether you’ve been forgotten… and the deeper ache of realizing you tried to take control instead of trusting.

The song walks with us through waiting, regret, and fallout — but it doesn’t leave us there. It follows the God of Genesis 16, who finds us in the wilderness, just as He found Hagar. He doesn’t scold. He speaks. He names. He sees.

This is the heart of the gospel: not that we always get it right, but that God still writes mercy into our story. He still moves through the mess. And even when we don’t feel Him, He’s the God who never shuts us out.

So if you’re in a season where the promise hurts — if you’ve made mistakes in the waiting — know this:
You’re not disqualified.
You’re not unseen.
And it’s not over.

The same God who met Hagar in the desert meets you now — with grace, with whisper, with welcome.

Prayer

God of the promise and the wilderness,
You see us when we wait, when we wander, and when we weep.
Forgive us for the ways we’ve tried to force what only You can fulfill.
Forgive us for running from You — or worse, trying to replace You.

Thank You for finding us in the fallout.
Thank You for calling us by name, even when we feel ashamed.
We trust that You still work through the mess.
That You redeem even the pain.
And that You never shut us out.

Teach us to wait well.
To listen for Your whisper.
To follow when You speak.
And to believe again — even when it hurts.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Song: When the Promise Hurts

Verse 1 – The Struggle of Waiting
I held Your promise like a seed in dry ground
Prayed for rain but no mercy came down
I smiled through the silence, held back the tears
But doubt moved in louder with every year
I heard every echo, searched stars for a sign
Wondered if waiting meant I’d been denied
Am I the forgotten, the one You let go?
Or is there still hope in a promise so slow?

Chorus – Confession & Faithfulness
When the promise hurts and I’m breaking inside
When hope’s hanging on by the thinnest line
I’m sorry I ran, sorry I tried
To carry what only You provide
But even in silence, even in doubt
You’re still the God who never shuts me out

Verse 2 – The Fallout
I moved too fast when I should’ve stood still
I pushed the door open and called it Your will
I passed off the burden I didn’t release
And covered the chaos with counterfeit peace
Now I see the cracks in the things I’ve done
The distance I built when I tried to outrun
Can mercy still reach what I’ve torn apart?
Can grace find a way back into my heart?

Chorus – Confession & Faithfulness
When the promise hurts and I’m breaking inside
When hope’s hanging on by the thinnest line
I’m sorry I ran, sorry I tried
To carry what only You provide
But even in silence, even in doubt
You’re still the God who never shuts me out

Verse 3 – Wilderness Grace
You found me alone in the hush of the night
Where the questions were louder than any light
You spoke to the fear I had hidden for years
And called me by name through the weight of my tears
No thunder, no fire — just whisper and breath
A promise not broken, just not finished yet
You meet me right here in the wild unknown
Still calling me chosen, still calling me home

Bridge – Redemption & Release
You don’t ignore all the wrongs I’ve done
But You weave Your mercy through every one
If You still move in the mess I’ve made
Then even the pain has a part to play

Final Chorus – Restored Trust
When the promise waits and the answer’s delayed
Still I’ll trust You’re working in unseen ways
I’m done with the fight, done with the fear
Your whisper is stronger than all I could hear
And even in silence, even in doubt
You’re still the God who never shuts me out

Outro – Quiet Benediction
You found me afraid, but You called me by name
You stayed through the silence, You stayed through the shame
You never let go, through the silence and doubt
You’re still the God who never shuts me out

You Still Know My Name

Song: You Still Know My Name

Devotional: “You Still Know My Name”
Key Scriptures: Revelation 2:17 & Psalm 139

Have you ever felt invisible in a crowded room? Like no one sees you—not really? In a world where billions have lived and died, it’s easy to wonder: Do I even matter? And yet, this song reminds us of a soul-anchoring truth: God knows your name.

Revelation 2:17 contains a mysterious promise:

“To the one who is victorious, I will give… a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”

This verse doesn’t just speak of intimacy—it screams it. The God who reigns over galaxies also hands you a stone—a personal gift—engraved with a name known only between you and Him. That’s relationship.

Psalm 139 echoes the same divine intimacy. God knit you together in the secret place. Before you spoke a word, He knew every phrase. He’s the Author of your days and the Listener of your nights. You are never out of His reach or hidden from His sight. Whether you’re drowning in shame, plagued by doubt, or grieving in silence, He still knows your name.

This song reflects the sacred promise that God’s knowledge of you isn’t just factual—it’s relational.
He doesn’t just know about you.
He knows you.

In your darkest night, He whispers peace. When voices of shame rise, He breaks through with love. And when you think you’ve wandered too far, He chooses to stay. Not because you’re flawless—but because you’re fully known and fully claimed.

That name He calls you? It isn’t mistake or failure.
It’s beloved, redeemed, His.
And He’s never forgotten it.

Prayer:

God,
Thank You for knowing me so deeply and loving me so faithfully.
When the noise of life overwhelms me, remind me that You are still near—still speaking peace over my soul.
Even when I feel lost or ashamed, You never turn away.
You call me by name.
You guide me through the fire, through the doubt, through the fear.
I rest in the promise that You see me, You’ve claimed me, and You’ll never let me go.
Today, I choose to believe You still know my name.
Amen.

Song Lyrics:
Verse 1
Billions have walked this world before,
But still—You see me,
You search my heart, then love me more.
Before I speak, You know each phrase.
You go before me all my days—
You still know my name.

Pre-Chorus
Even in the dark, You find me there,
When I try to hide, You’re well aware.
From the highest heaven to the deepest grave,
You won’t let go… You won’t turn away.

Chorus
In the darkest night, when the voices rise,
And the weight of the world is loud in my mind—
You whisper peace, You break the shame,
You still know my name.
When life turns cruel, and I feel alone,
Like You’ve turned Your face and left me on my own—
Still, You remain, forever the same—
And You still know my name.

Verse 2
You knit me in the secret place,
Each thread was touched with holy grace.
You wrote the days You’d planned for me—
More than the sands beside the sea.
When I feel lost or small and ashamed,
You still know my name.

Verse 3
Some days I drown in doubt and fear,
With questions only You can hear.
But through the fire, You never leave,
You stand beside me when I grieve.
No shame or guilt can stake a claim—
You still know my name.

Bridge
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Nowhere.
If I ride the dawn, You’re already there.
If I lie down in the depths of pain,
Even there—You call my name.
Your hand will guide me,
Your love will find me.

Final Chorus
In the mystery, in the fear,
When I wonder if You’re near—
I hear You call me by my name…
You still know my name.
No matter how far I’ve run or strayed,
You saw it all—yet You chose to stay.
I’m fully known, fully claimed—
And You still know my name.

Outro
You still know…
You still know…
You still know my name.

Holy Communion

Devotional

1 Corinthians 10:16-17 (NIV)
“Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.”

It’s a weekly thing we do.  Sometimes it may seem too much like “checking off a box” on Sunday.

But as we gather around the Lord’s Table, we don’t come to perform a ritual. We come to meet a Savior.

We want to experience this moment as sacred—not out of tradition alone, but because Jesus Himself meets us here. He is the Host and the Offering. The Bread and the Cup are not mere symbols—they are signs of gracechannels of mercy, and echoes of a love poured out.

We remember how, in the upper room, Jesus broke bread with trembling hands, knowing the cross awaited. He gave thanks. He shared the cup. And He told His disciples, “Do this in remembrance of Me.”

Not because He needed to be remembered—but because we needed to remember:
His suffering.
His love.
His victory.
And the unity He purchased with His blood.

As the lyrics say:
“This table is no empty rite,
No hollow invitation.”

We are invited not as perfect people, but as those made pure by His grace.
We come with hearts contrite, seeking not just to take bread and wine, but to be changed.
This is a place of healing—where Christ binds up wounds, restores weary souls, and renews our hope.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus,
We come to Your table with awe and humility.
Thank You for inviting us, cleansing us, and calling us Your own.
In this bread and cup, let us not forget the cost of our salvation.
Let all pretense be ended. Let all striving cease.
Renew our minds. Heal our hearts. Bind us together in Your love.

We remember You.
We worship You.
We belong to You.

In Your holy name,
Amen

Holy Communion Song Lyrics

Verse 1
This is a holy, sacred time,
We gather at the table.
To take the bread, to drink the wine,
As Jesus did, so faithful.
He prayed with love, His heart laid bare,
He broke the bread with sorrow.
And now in quiet, humbled prayer,
In His grace we follow.

Verse 2
We do this week by passing week,
And year by year we gather.
Not just by habit, cold or weak,
But seeking Christ our Savior.
For here we taste the love He gives,
Our hearts restored, forgiven.
In this, our weary spirit lives—
Renewed by touch of heaven.

Chorus
Come, remember
Come, renew
Let His mercy flow through you
Come, be one
In sacred sign
In His body—bread and wine
In His body—bread and wine

Verse 3
This table is no empty rite,
No hollow invitation
We come with hearts contrite,
In deep and true reflection.
Prepare our hearts, renew our minds,
Let all pretense be ended
For in this bread, the Savior binds
The wounds His love has mended.

Verse 4
So let us come in unity,
As those made pure and holy.
His body shared in mystery,
His love poured out so lowly.
The bread, His flesh; the cup, His blood—
A grace beyond all measure.
This sacred meal, this cleansing flood,
Our refuge and our treasure.

Chorus
Come, remember
Come, renew
Let His mercy flow through you
Come, be one
In sacred sign
In His body—bread and wine
In His body—bread and wine

Bridge
Jesus, Lamb of God,
Who takes away our sin,
Let this bread and cup
Draw us close again.
We remember You,
We remember love—
Broken for us
From heaven above.

Outro
So take and eat, and drink the wine,
And meet with Christ once more.
He meets us here with nail-scarred hands
And opens mercy’s door.

The Rythm of Life

[Verse 1]
In this journey we all face
There’s a rhythm, there’s a grace
Winding roads and changing skies
God sends people to our lives
[Verse 2]
Some are closer than our kin
Hearts wide open, love within
In the church we stand as one
Bound together by the Son
[Verse 3]
In the joy, we lift our song
In the sorrow, we belong
In the feast and in the fight
We share burdens, share the light
[Chorus]
We share in joy, we share in pain
In loss, in hope, in sun, in rain
In celebration, grief, or cheer
We stand together, year by year
Though we don’t know what lies ahead
We walk by faith, not fear or dread
[Verse 4]
We remember those who’ve gone
Still they whisper, still live on
In the stories that we tell
In the tears we know so well
[Verse 5]
We are human — frail and small
But God is greater than it all
We will rise, and we will fall
Still His love will hold us all
[Chorus]
We share in joy, we share in pain
In loss, in hope, in sun, in rain
In celebration, grief, or cheer
We stand together, year by year
Though we don’t know what lies ahead
We walk by faith, not fear or dread
[Bridge]
When the night is long and cold
When our strength is weak and old
Still His promise lights the way
Nothing takes His love away
[Final Chorus]
We share in joy, we share in pain
In loss, in hope, in sun, in rain
We don’t know what tomorrow brings
But still we hope, and still we sing
For nothing comes, no trial or test
That separates us from God’s rest
[Outro]
No storm, no sorrow, death or life
Can cut us from His love and light.
