“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:18–19
Devotional:
The rising sun paints the morning sky with hope, inviting us into the beauty of a new day. It whispers of fresh starts and the promise of renewal. Yet, for many of us, the wounds of yesterday refuse to let go. The shadows of failure, shame, and trauma cling tightly, replaying scenes of despair in the theater of our minds. It’s as if we’re trapped in a never-ending game of “Whack-a-Mole,” fighting one emotion or thought only to have another rise up in its place.
This is the reality of being stuck. It’s not just about our circumstances; it’s about the battle within—those moments when a song, a picture, or a memory catapults us back into the heart of our pain. It feels like an endless loop, and we wonder, Will I ever be free?
The answer lies not in fighting harder, but in surrendering deeper. God’s invitation to us isn’t to conquer the game but to unplug it. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” These words remind us that freedom doesn’t come from our striving, but from resting in the One who holds the power to heal, restore, and renew.
When we unplug the game, we stop trying to manage our emotions or control our past. Instead, we place them in God’s hands, trusting His perfect timing—kairos, the appointed moment of grace and breakthrough. In His presence, the relentless ticking of chronos time fades, and we find the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Today, let the Spirit of God meet you in your stuckness. Release the battle to Him, and allow Him to write a new story over your life—one of hope, courage, and renewal. Remember, you are not defined by your failures or bound by your trauma. You are held by a loving God who declares, “See, I am making all things new” (Revelation 21:5).
Prayer: Thank You for being the God who makes all things new. Today, I surrender the weight of my past to You. Help me to let go of the things that keep me stuck and to trust in Your power to heal my brokenness. When reminders of pain arise, let me rest in Your peace and listen for Your voice. Lead me into the newness You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The dawning sun throws brilliant colors across the canvas of the sky It’s a new day, a new beginning, a new chance to experience life Let me forget the failures of the past and engulf myself in the fullness of the NOW Inhaling the goodness and fullness of His Spirit, taking in the beauty of His creation With anticipation of all today brings, I will lean into the possibilities that await me I will open every door and every window of opportunity and grab them with gusto
And then it happens…like it has dozens of times before… I hear a song I see a picture Words are spoken Thoughts intrude Emotions unwind
I’m a failure I’m unworthy I’m hopeless I can’t I won’t I give up It’s not worth it I’m not enough It’s time to quit I can’t go on
Chronos – time marches on
I find myself in the bizarre Whack-a-Mole fight for my life I whack the mole of failure, but unworthiness pops up its ugly head I whack the mole of unworthiness, but hopelessness pops up its ugly head With every tick of the clock, it’s another mole Boom Whack…On and on and on…Boom Whack… Beating down addictions, defeating thoughts, destructive emotions and isolating behaviors When will this end, this endless game of self-defeat?
Kairos – His time is now…the right time is now
And His Spirit speaks to my soul… …and whispers… …unplug the game…
And the clock stops… …everything goes dark… …silence surrounds me… …the game is over… …and in that moment I know… …I’m going to be ok…
And the sun sets And the moon and stars shine bright And my head rests on my pillow And His Spirit comforts me It’s been a good day Let me do THAT again tomorrow
[Verse 1] The morning breaks, the sky glows bright, Your mercy wakes me with the light. But echoes whisper in my ear, Reminding me of doubt and fear.
[Pre-Chorus] Every fault I try to hide, Still keeps pulling me inside. But You are calling, strong and true, Breaking through with something new…
[Chorus] Be still, my soul, let go, let go, He is making all things grow, don’t you know? No more striving, no more shame, He’s the healer, He’s the same. So I’ll unplug the game, lay it at Your feet, And find my peace complete.
[Verse 2] The clock keeps ticking in my mind, I chase the past but fall behind. I fight the thoughts, but they won’t leave, A lie I always seem to believe.
[Pre-Chorus] Then You whisper, soft and strong, “Child, you’ve fought for far too long.” “Keep on striving, for I am near,” And suddenly, it all is clear…
[Boom Whack Bridge] But the past shouts back… Boom whack—down it goes! Another fear, another foe! Boom whack—I swing again, But still, the fight won’t end! Tick-tock, another round, Trying hard, but still I drown. Boom whack—I hear You say… “Child, unplug, and walk away…” (Bridge fades into silence—building anticipation for the final chorus!)
[Final Chorus – Soft to Powerful] Be still, my soul, let go, let go, He is making all things grow, don’t you know? No more striving, no more shame, He’s the healer, He’s the same. So I’ll unplug the game, lay it at Your feet, And find my peace complete.
[Outro] And the sun sets, the stars shine bright, Your Spirit holds me through the night. It’s been a good day, I let go, Tomorrow, Lord, let’s do it again.
Scripture:“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
There are moments in life when we find ourselves in places we never intended to be—trapped, burdened, lost in a cycle of guilt and regret. We look around and wonder, How did I get here? The weight of our past, the choices we’ve made, and the wounds we carry feel inescapable.
But God is not a distant observer. He sees the struggle, the self-condemnation, the fear that we are beyond redemption. And yet, He whispers truth into our restless souls: You are not forgotten. You are not too far gone. My grace is greater than your failures.
“X marks the spot.” The place of your greatest pain can become the place of your greatest redemption. When we stop running, stop hiding, and lay it all down at the foot of the cross, transformation begins. Jesus is not waiting for us to clean ourselves up first—He is calling us to surrender, to dig deep, and to uncover the treasure of His mercy hidden beneath our shame.
No more running. No more hiding. This is where life begins.
Prayer:
Lord, I come to You weary and burdened by my past. I lay my brokenness before You, trusting that Your love is greater than my failures. Help me to surrender fully, to stop hiding, and to receive the grace You freely offer. Redeem my story, transform my heart, and let me walk in the freedom and purpose You have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I find myself in a place I don’t want to be
How did I get here
In this place where I am not free
Awkward
…Discomfort
Trapped
…Caged
…Bound
Judged
…Damned
…As worthless…and rotten…who should be condemned?
Who should it be?
…Is it you?
…Is it me?
…Or is this just the way the world works?
X marks the spot…
…and so I shall dig into the discomfort to uncover why I feel damned
I can’t blame another
For the failings that are mine
I’m the one who must take responsibility
For who I define
Mea culpa (Latin: through my fault)
I will no longer deny
The damage that I have done
And the life that is a lie
X marks the spot…
…and so I shall dig into the denial to uncover what I don’t want to see
It’s time to turn this around
To become the person I want to be
To live a life of freedom
And receive all that God wants for me
For God has made me special
Unique in every way
To live a life for His glory
And get the most of every day
X marks the spot…
…and so I shall dig to reveal the bounty which God has stored up for me
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
We don’t see things clearly yet. We’re seeing things in a fog, peering through the reflection of a looking glass. But eventually we’ll see it all, as clearly as God sees us, and seeing Him face-to-face as he knows us…without our mask…as we are.
But until then…
Chronos – time marches on
I will continue to live in my window box. In my prison…as a fraction of the person I could be…because that’s how I think “they” want me to live…
…dressed up
…made up
…perfection
…flawless
…selfish
…stoic
…fake
…empty
…frail
…emotionless
…numb
…wanting
…lost
…pain
…loneliness
And in the quietness of my empty world…I hear it…I see it…with a whisper… It’s time…
Kairos – His time is now
…It’s time to shatter the window box…
…It’s time to walk free on the sidewalk of life…
…and be… ME
…as He made me
…as He sees me
…as He desires me to be
…with my imperfections
…with my strengths
…giving
…full of emotion
…real…without pretension
…getting the most out of life
…taking advantage of every moment
…weak, sometimes
…strong, sometimes
…constantly seeking adventure
…feeling pain, and learning from it
…being alone, but being okay with it
…finding companionship…and risking the adventure of it
…full…of…everything…life…has…to…offer
…with eyes wide open…
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” — 1 Corinthians 13:12
Reflection:
Many of us grapple with the fear that if others truly knew us—the depths of our thoughts, our past mistakes, our hidden struggles—they might withdraw their love. This apprehension can lead to feelings of isolation and unworthiness, causing us to hide our true selves behind masks of perfection or indifference.
However, the Bible offers a transformative truth: God knows us completely and loves us unconditionally. As 1 Corinthians 13:12 reminds us, our current understanding is limited, like seeing a dim reflection in a mirror. Yet, even in our partial understanding, we are fully known by God. This means that our capacity to love and be loved originates from God’s perfect love for us—a love that is not based on our merits but on His very nature.
Consider the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11). She was exposed and condemned by others, yet Jesus saw beyond her sin and offered her grace and a new beginning. This encounter illustrates that even when we feel most unlovable, Jesus meets us with compassion and redemption.
Embracing this truth requires us to confront our fears and vulnerabilities, bringing them before God in honesty. When we do so, we open ourselves to experiencing the fullness of His love—a love that liberates us from the need to hide and empowers us to live authentically.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You with my fears and insecurities, knowing that You see me fully and love me unconditionally. Help me to embrace Your love, allowing it to dispel the lies that I am unlovable. Teach me to live authentically, rooted in the assurance that I am known and cherished by You. Empower me to extend this love to others, reflecting Your grace in all my relationships.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

When you look at me, who do you see? Do you see what you want to see? Or do you see the real ME?
I’m not…
…plastic and fake …living in the confines of a storefront window box you make …saying what you want me to say …thinking what you want me to think …without flaw …a model doll …hair of silk all in place …living in your window box space
I’m ME…

Verse 1: In this life, we see through mirrors dim, True selves hidden, light within grows slim. Fearing if they knew the flaws inside, They’d turn away, and love would be denied.
Chorus: But You, O Lord, You see me face to face, Fully known, embraced by endless grace. In Your light, my heart is truly free, To be the one You always meant for me.
Verse 2: No longer bound by chains of false pretense, I step beyond the walls of their defense. With all my scars and strengths in full display, I walk in freedom, guided by Your way.
Chorus: For You, O Lord, You see me face to face, Fully known, embraced by endless grace. In Your light, my heart is truly free, To be the one You always meant for me.
Bridge: Now I embrace the journey, come what may, With open eyes, I seek You every day. Until that time I see You face to face, I’ll walk in faith, upheld by Your embrace.
Chorus: For You, O Lord, You see me face to face, Fully known, embraced by endless grace. In Your light, my heart is truly free, To be the one You always meant for me.
Outro: For now, we see as in a mirror’s gaze, But then, with You, we’ll stand in glory’s blaze. Fully known and knowing, we will be, In perfect love for all eternity.
